Trust in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy

1 Timothy 6:17
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

I have written this article mostly for my own edification and admonition, though I hope others may also find it helpful when considering beautiful objects in the world. Such objects must not be an end in themselves: we should be mindful that they came from God and to him they will return. As it is written:

1 Timothy 6:7
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

Other gems from scripture concerning God’s gifts to human beings:

Psalm 104:14-15
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.

Ecclesiastes 3:13
And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Proverbs 27:9
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.
